General Information
How do I register for either the LSAT or the LSDAS?
To register for the LSAT or the LSDAS, you must create an Online Services account. Once your account is created, follow the online prompts for registration.
Is there a checklist I can follow for completing my account?
Visit the Getting Started section of this website for a checklist and other information about preparing for your law school education.
I have already completed my registration via Online Services but need to make changes. How can I do this?
Any changes to name, date of birth, and/or Social Security/Social Insurance number must be submitted to LSAC in writing and require a signature. Fax your correction(s) to 215.968.1119 or mail to LSAC, 662 Penn Street, Box 2000-C, Newtown, PA 18940. All other biographical information can be changed online.
How can I verify the date I registered and how much I paid?
Once you are logged in to your Online Services account, click on the Account Status tab and select Fees for information regarding orders, amounts paid, and the dates.
Why wasn’t my graduate work summarized?
Law schools have requested that we summarize only undergraduate work. However, your LSDAS report will include copies of your graduate-level transcripts.
Where do I enter the information regarding which law schools I want to receive my report?
You do not need to submit this information to LSAC. Once you apply to the law schools, they will request your report directly from us.
I received an e-mail containing my password but never requested it. Why is this? Is my account still secure?
If you forget your username or password, you can enter your information on our username/password recovery form, and it will be mailed to the e-mail address we have on file for you.
What probably happened is that someone else using the system thought they had the username you are using and entered that into the recovery form. This happens every once in a while, especially for users whose usernames are fairly common. There is no risk to your account security, and it is safe to delete those e-mails.
How can I pay for the items I have ordered using LSAC Online Services?
In order to complete your purchase, first log in to your Online Services account. Once logged in, at the top right of the browser window there is a link that says Shopping Cart (not the Shop tab, Shopping Cart is located nearer to the top of the window).
Click on Shopping Cart and it will take you to a page that lists everything you are ordering and the total purchase price. Under this list is a button that says Checkout. Click Checkout and it will take you to the next page, where you can enter your billing information and complete your order.
Once your order is completed, you will receive an e-mail with an order-confirmation number. Please save this e-mail in case you have to contact us again with any questions about your order.
How can I check the status of an order?
Once you are logged in to your Online Services account, click on the Account Status tab and select Publications.
Why can’t I change my preferences in my profile?
First, you must be signed up for the Candidate Referral Service. Once you are logged in to your Online Services account, select the Profile tab and go to the Authorization section. Click on the Modify button at the bottom of the screen and change your answer to "Yes" for at least one of the Candidate Referral Service questions. Next, select Preferences at the top of the page to modify any items.
Where can I get my Transcript Request Forms?
Transcript Request Forms will be available in your online account only after you register for the LSDAS and enter your school information. Once you are logged in to your Online Services account, click on the My Docs tab and select Forms to obtain a form for each school listed. Paper Transcript Request Forms are included in the LSAT & LSDAS Registration Packet for those who register by mail and who do not have an online account.
How can I add a school that I forgot to list on my LSDAS registration?
Choose the Transcripts link under the Account Status tab in your Online Services account. Then click on the applicable Add School button to add the school.
Why can’t I change what letters of recommendation will be sent to a school?
You can make a change only if the letter has not been sent. You cannot remove a letter once an LSDAS law school report has been printed or after the school’s term has ended. If the school will accept more letters than initially directed, you may direct additional letters to this school. The additional letters will be sent to the school when the school receives the next LSDAS law school report.
Once you are logged in to your Online Services account, select the Profile tab and go to General. Your account expiration date and the service(s) for which you registered are listed.
LSAT and LSDAS fees are only partially refundable, due to the fact that processing costs are incurred in the registration process, regardless of whether you actually take the test or use the service.
Because of the large volume of registrations received, LSAC cannot prevent the processing of a registration once it is submitted. Refund policies apply to all methods of registration and are enforced without exception.
The following fees are not refundable:
Late fees, fees for change of test date or center, fees for nonpublished test centers.
To request an LSAT refund:
If you cannot take the test on the day for which you registered, LSAC will, upon written request, refund $45 ($49 CDN). Simply send LSAC a written request by the refund deadline. Your refund will take approximately six weeks to process, and your test registration will be canceled. Requesting a refund by the deadline will prevent the recording of an absentee notation in your file.
Note: The processing of a refund will cancel your test registration and no absentee notation for that test will appear on your file. Mail to LSAC, Box 2000-T, Newtown, PA 18940-0995 or fax to 215.968.1277.
To request an LSDAS refund (US only):
If a summary of your undergraduate record has not yet begun, no letters of recommendation have been received, and no electronic applications have been sent to LSAC for processing, LSAC will refund $45 and the fees paid for the LSDAS reports. Your request must be in writing and received before your LSDAS registration expires. Simply send LSAC a written request by the refund deadline. Your refund will take approximately six weeks to process, and your service will be canceled.
Note: Refunds for law school reports ordered but not used will not be given once any transcript or letter of recommendation processing has occurred.
For all refund requests, include your name, address, LSAC account number, SSN/SIN, signature, and date. Mail to LSAC, Box 2000, Newtown, PA 18940-0998 or fax to 215.968.1119.
Stop Payments/Returned Checks/Credit Card Denial
If your credit card authorization is denied
- a hold will be placed on your file, and
- no further reporting will be possible until you pay the outstanding balance.
A credit card denial will not cancel your registration.
If you stop payment on any check, or if any check is returned
- a hold will be placed on your file,
- a stop-payment charge will be applied to your account, and
- no further reporting will be possible until you pay the outstanding balance plus the stop-payment charge.
Stopping payment will not cancel your registration.
If you wish to cancel a service, please follow the appropriate refund procedure.
Note: A reporting hold on your file will not prevent you from taking the LSAT. However, the hold will prevent the release of your LSAT score(s) and all LSAT and LSDAS reporting to you and to law schools. If you order publications, shipping delays may also result. If the balance due is not settled, the reporting hold will carry over to subsequent LSAC files.
Admission Tickets
Where is my LSAT admission ticket?
Your LSAT admission ticket is available in your Online Services account under the "My Docs" tab. To view your ticket, log on to your account and pause your mouse pointer on the blue "My Docs" tab, then click "LSAT" on the pop-up menu. Click the link for the available test date and your ticket will open.
I am having trouble viewing my LSAT admission ticket.
Please make sure you have Adobe Reader 5 or later installed on your computer. If you have an earlier version of Reader, you will need to uninstall it, then download and install a later version. Reader is available free from www.adobe.com.
Admission tickets are displayed in a Reader pop-up window. If you click the link to your ticket and no window appears, it is being blocked by software on your computer. Be sure that you have disabled any pop-up blockers, Internet security suites, personal firewalls, or other software that may modify, block, filter, or reroute your connection. LSAC cannot assist you with any software provided by a third party.
Microsoft Windows XP or Vista users – If you have the required version of Reader installed and your admission ticket opens in a blank window, it may be necessary to change a setting in Reader. Start Reader, click Edit, then Preferences. From the menu on the left, click Internet and clear the "Display PDF in browser" check box. Click OK, then exit Reader and try to open your Admission Ticket.
Some users may need to make an additional change to their Internet Options. Exit all open programs, then, from your computer’s Control Panel, open Internet Options and click the Advanced tab. Scroll down the list of settings to the Security section, and clear the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" check box. Click OK and try to open your admission ticket.
Macintosh OS X users – The default application to view PDFs in OS X is Preview. Some LSAC documents do not display correctly in Preview and must be viewed using Adobe Reader. Opening the admission ticket in Preview will also place a copy of the file on your desktop as Example.pdf. Open Adobe Reader, click File, then Open. Browse to your desktop and select the downloaded copy of the ticket. This should open the admission ticket properly and allow you to view and print your ticket.
