The College of Law is located in the downtown Atlanta community, and our student population reflects the diversity of the city. We believe that we all benefit from associating with people with a wide variety of life experiences and viewpoints, and we welcome applications that demonstrate qualities or experiences that will enrich the diversity of our classes. The College of Law strives to provide a supportive environment for LGBT students, both in and out of the classroom.

Our law admissions process is all about getting to know the applicants. LGBT applicants are strongly urged to apply, and there are several places in the application where they can speak to LGBT issues or identity. The application encourages applicants to explain their extracurricular activities and community service contributions. LGBT applicants may also include diversity statements to explain who they are and what they will bring and contribute to the College of Law. Many applicants also use their personal statements to introduce themselves to us.

Students can join OutLaw (the Lesbian and Gay Law Student Association), as well as many other student organizations. OutLaw works to ensure that all students attending the College of Law are exposed to LGBT legal issues. It sponsors community service events and invites guest speakers to talk about many issues, especially those related to LGBT themes. The Stonewall Bar Association is the local professional association for LGBT lawyers, and it provides student memberships and reaches out to our students in a number of ways. The College of Law also sponsors speaker events on campus to address issues of interest to gay and lesbian law students.

In addition, the College of Law's Career Services Office sponsors a workshop covering pre- and post-employment needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender law students. The Career Services Office also provides resources specifically targeting gay and lesbian law students. Alumni referrals are also available through the Career Services Office.
