About Thomas Jefferson School of Law

Established in 1998, Thomas Jefferson School of Law's Master of Laws (LLM) in International Taxation and Financial Services was the first online program of its kind. It offers interactive graduate law courses and superior training from an ABA-accredited institution. Thomas Jefferson School of Law is fully accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and is a member of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS).

Master of Laws (LLM) in International Taxation and Financial Services

The Thomas Jefferson School of Law offers an innovative graduate degree aimed at leaders who aspire to compete at a higher level. The online Master of Laws (LLM) degree program was designed specifically for busy business professionals who possess a Juris Doctorate.

The LLM in International Taxation and Financial Services will allow you to acquire a thorough and current knowledge of the laws, regulations, concepts, and practices of financial services and international and US taxation. The comprehensive curriculum encompasses more than 30 courses taught by widely recognized faculty and is updated regularly to ensure that students are kept abreast on the latest industry issues that are faced in today's marketplace.

  • Financial Services and Wealth Management
  • International Taxation
  • US Taxation
  • Compliance and Risk Management
  • Bankruptcy and Restructuring

Offered 100 percent online, the program allows professionals to advance their expertise and knowledge base by developing a unique, valuable skill set for solving problems, without sacrificing their careers.

LLM in American Legal Studies

The Master of Laws (LLM) Program in American Legal Studies is a one-year degree program of 24 credits for candidates seeking a US law degree. It is designed for attorneys, judges, government officials, prosecutors, corporate legal counsel, bankers, and recent law graduates who have received their basic law degree outside the United States.

An LLM in American Legal Studies will appeal to foreign law graduates who wish to obtain comprehensive training in American legal practice and eventually use this training to find a job in the many competitive US law firms operating in foreign countries. With an LLM in American Legal Studies, foreign law graduates know that they will be more attractive to the high-paying US law firms operating and recruiting abroad.

Bar Eligibility

Every LLM student who has completed a minimum of 20 credits may be eligible for admission to practice law in some states like New York, after successful performance on the New York State Bar examination. Students wishing to take the California bar examination must fulfill certain specific requirements including, but not limited to, taking four doctrinal courses and Professional Responsibility, as well as being subject to the same grading standards as the JD students.

LLM in International Trade and Investment

The LLM in International Trade and Investment allows LLM candidates to take advantage of Thomas Jefferson School of Law's growing international law curriculum and world-class faculty. This LLM in International Trade and Investment can serve candidates with either a foreign or US law degree.
