Introduction
Located in Lubbock, Texas, the School of Law is located on the main campus of Texas Tech University, which takes pride in being a major comprehensive research university with more than 100 master's degree programs and more than 50 doctoral programs. We are fully accredited by the ABA and the Supreme Court of Texas and a member of the more selective Association of American Law Schools. In 1974, a chapter of the Order of the Coif was established, a distinction accorded to only one third of American law schools. Our faculty embraces an open-door policy, enabling students to engage in continuing dialogue beyond formal class hours. The overall student body is just less than 700 students. In recent years women have comprised 44 percent of the student body, while minorities have made up 25 percent. The Texas Tech University School of Law is part of the Texas Tech University system, which has a total enrollment of approximately 32,000 students, including students from more than 100 countries. LLM Program Description
The two-semester Master of Laws (LLM) degree in United States Legal Studies at Texas Tech University School of Law is designed for graduates of foreign law schools who are interested in a formal program of study of the US legal system. LLM students will be enrolled in two specific LLM courses: Legal Research and Writing for the LLM Student and Introduction to United States Law. LLM students create a program of study that meets their particular needs, allowing them to focus on one of the many areas in which we provide expertise, such as energy law or US business law. The American Bar Association has acquiesced in the establishment of our LLM program, and the program has been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
The Value of an LLM Degree
As economic globalization continues to expand, the need for lawyers with international experience also continues to grow. More and more US law firms are looking to foreign lawyers with US LLMs to staff offices in far-off lands. In addition, more and more foreign lawyers are finding that an LLM degree from a university in the United States is a necessary requirement to future success in the practice of law in their home countries. We want to be your legal destination of choice, not just because we believe we can do a better job than most law schools, but because we appreciate that our JD students can benefit from your presence in the classroom and on our campus. We look forward to welcoming you as a candidate in the Master of Laws degree in United States Legal Studies at Texas Tech University School of Law.

Highly Regarded Reputation
Texas Tech's ABA-accredited law school is known for producing well-prepared practitioners, evidenced by a consistently high bar passage rate and nationally strong advocacy and legal writing programs. Our student-to-faculty ratio is less than 17:1; professor accessibility is one of the many strengths of Tech Law. The law school offers an abundance of symposia, institutes, and guest presentations featuring jurists, professors, and lawyers from around the nation and the world.
Library and Physical Facilities
Our library is designed to meet the needs of a contemporary legal education. The law library supports the research and academic needs of the students and faculty with superb computer resources and wireless Internet access, complementing a substantial collection of printed materials. All students have 24/7 access to the library and assigned library carrels that serve as small office-like work spaces. All classrooms are equipped with multimedia technology. The 34,000-square-foot Lanier Professional Development Center houses the Office of Academic Success Programs, the Career Services Center, a state-of-the-art courtroom designed to support technology-driven advocacy training, and ample space for student meetings.
