Keith Black is the vice president and chief people officer at the Law School Admission Council. Prior to this role, he was vice president of human resources for the Philadelphia Media Network and a faculty member in Villanova University’s master’s program in human resources development. Black earned his BA in labor and industrial relations from Penn State University and his JD from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law. His expertise encompasses all facets of labor and employment law, including affirmative action compliance, employee pay practices, and employment safety and health. Black practiced labor and employment law for Littler Mendelson in San Jose and Blank Rome in Philadelphia before joining the legal department of Zeneca Corporation (later AstraZeneca) in the capacity of employment counsel. He spent several years with AstraZeneca as a human resources generalist, first as a manager, then director of human resources, and finally as the national sales employment practices leader. In these roles, he oversaw all human resources functions for approximately 6,000 field sales employees. Black moved on to serve as vice president of human resources for DecisionOne Corporation and then as vice president of human capital consulting for Aon Consulting. He was later named vice president of human resources for Hersha Hospitality Management, a hotel management company with over 80 properties from Boston to Atlanta. In this role, he assumed control of a human resources function with no employees and built the department into a finalist for Philadelphia Human Resources Department of the Year in less than twelve months. Black was recently named Delaware Valley HR Person of the Year in the Large Company category.
