LGBT Survey Results: The University of Mississippi School of Law

Nondiscrimination Policy

The University of Mississippi does not discriminate against any student, employee, or applicant for admission based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, handicap status, age, veteran status, or sexual orientation. For more information, contact the Office of Equal Opportunity at 662.915.7735.

LGBT Student Organization(s)

The school boasts a vibrant student group, OUTlaw, focused on LGBT issues. OUTlaw serves the law school, and the broader community, by providing support and a forum for the discussion of legal or political matters affecting LGBT individuals. OUTlaw also allows students, faculty, and staff at the School of Law to establish friendships and identify others with a commitment to the LGBT community. Recently, OUTlaw worked to develop the first LGBT Law Alumni chapter in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Subsequently, the university’s Alumni Association has added an LGBTQ council, one of three in the SEC.

OUTlaw also hosts an annual LGBT Continuing Legal Education (CLE) event. From around the nation, the OUTlaw CLE event brings together expert panelists, academics, lawyers, journalists, students, and other community members.
