Additional Information

The Triangle region—Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill—offers many opportunities for members of the LGBTQ+ community, and their allies, to find other students and community members with whom they identify. Diversity of thought and expression is particularly encouraged in the Triangle through organizations such as PFLAG, the Triangle Pride Band, and Equality North Carolina. The LGBTQ Center of UNC-Chapel Hill is a tremendous resource that "works to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for UNC-Chapel Hill community members of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions." See LGBTQ Center for more information.

Students can self-identify as LGBT in Symplicity, a career development and planning software employed by the UNC Law Career Development Office. Our career counselors can then identify unique opportunities and include LGBT students in diversity pipeline employment efforts and provide general counseling and guidance.

Our Student Development Office works closely with Lambda and all affinity groups to provide programming for our entire student population. Many administrators and faculty have completed Safe Zone, LGBT Ally development, training.
