Introduction

The William S. Boyd School of Law, the first and only public law school in Nevada history, commenced classes in fall 1998 and now has graduated more than 1,700 students. Located in a unique, dynamic, and continually growing metropolitan area, BSL offers its students an evolving social climate in which to study the law and observe and participate in its application. The law school is fully accredited by the American Bar Association and is a member of the Association of American Law Schools.

Faculty

The full-time faculty consists of experienced, accomplished, and well-respected legal educators. All faculty members have excellent credentials, experience, and reputations; all are people for whom teaching and mentoring of students is very important; and all are people who are eager to serve their community through scholarship, civic involvement, and various outreach programs. The law school also taps into the wealth of talent in the local bar association for adjunct faculty who teach a variety of specialized courses.

LLM in Gaming Law

UNLV is proud to offer the first and only LLM in Gaming Law. The LLM degree is a natural complement to the Boyd School of Law’s existing JD program, which already offers its students more gaming courses than any other law school in the country. As gaming continues to expand throughout the world, we see an increased need for talented and knowledgeable gaming lawyers. With our location in an international gaming destination, you will gain access to globally renowned gaming professionals and regulators, observe and learn from cutting-edge debates and decision making, and make lasting professional connections that will serve you well at the beginning of and throughout your law career.

Student Activities

The UNLV Gaming Law Journal is published by Boyd School of Law students. The journal is dedicated to analyzing the law and policy implications of gaming case law, legislation, administrative regulations, and important gaming legal events.

The Gaming Law Society is a student-run organization that seeks to foster a better understanding of what gaming attorneys do and what issues they may face on a day-to-day basis. Through frequent events, such as guest lectures and field trips to hotels and casinos, the organization shows how changes in gaming technology and legislation can have an effect on the economy.

Admission

Offered to both foreign and domestic students who hold a JD, Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent law degree, the program will take one academic year for full-time students or two academic years for part-time students. Application materials are available at LLM Admission & Tuition Information.

Students who complete gaming law courses while enrolled as JD students at the William S. Boyd School of Law or another law school can apply up to six gaming law course credits to the LLM in Gaming Law provided they completed the courses with a grade of “B” or better.
