Summary of Position

Position Role: To maintain high level of productivity by serving as an integral member of the JD Admissions staff and the Enrollment Management team for LMU Loyola Law School (LLS); to assist with all aspects of the department's admissions and enrollment efforts; to develop procedures to improve the application and enrollment process; and to provide the highest level of professional service to prospects, students, faculty and staff.

Additional Information

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Counsel prospective students regarding the application process and LMU Loyola Law School

  • Assist with the review of applications to the J.D. program, including evaluating CAS reports, personal statements and letters of recommendation; assist with the training of other file readers

  • Assist with the selection of files for Admissions Committee’s evaluation; assist with the selection of scholarship recipients; serve as Admissions Committee liaison

  • Interview applicants and potential scholarship recipients

  • Lead recruitment efforts for JD Hybrid Evening program; identify qualified Evening candidates and lead activities to recruit and enroll these candidates; create events to introduce candidates to LLS community

  • Develop, manage and plan virtual and in-person signature programs and events for prospective and admitted students, prelaw advisors, high schools and other special groups; serve as event presenter

  • Develop proficiency and skill in LSAC's application database, Unite; utilize Unite and Slate to assist with admissions and enrollment process; present ideas for future technical development

  • Serve as recruiter for in-person and virtual law school, graduate fairs, LSAC (Law School Admission Council)-sponsored and other events -- this includes local travel (throughout California) and national travel (throughout the U.S.)

  • Serve as a lead for Admissions to other departments for Orientation; manage and work with these groups to maintain and update Orientation portal

  • Serve as primary liaison for JD/MBA program, work with other LLS and university departments to manage and execute the admissions and enrollment process for these students

  • Assist with the development of effective marketing and recruitment strategies

  • Supervise and train (high school) work study students; manage their workflow

  • Under direction of Associate Dean perform other responsibilities to support overall office goals and targets

  • Other duties as assigned

Requisite Qualifications:

  • Typically a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. A JD or Graduate degree preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities to keep abreast of relevant regulation/policy changes.

  • Minimum of 2 years of admissions experience preferably in a postsecondary institution performing similar duties as listed above.

  • Ability to exercise judgment and independent action, within prescribed limits; articulate and tactful with senior administrators, other department members, faculty, students, and other constituents; excellent interpersonal, organizational and planning skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to large and small groups of prospective students and other audiences; demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment; effective problem solving skills and strong ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently; ability to effectively supervise others, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately; ability to travel and work non-traditional hours (primarily during peak recruitment season and the application review period)

  • Excellent oral and written customer services skills are required. Provide concise and clear communications, reports, letters, etc. Ability to remain calm and professional when faced with a challenging/sensitive situation and respond with tact and diplomacy. Strong public speaking, writing and group facilitation skills. Capacity to build relationships with diverse constituencies. Highly developed sense of empathy, humor, patience and resilience.

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion. Possess highly developed organizational, analytical and program solving skills to successfully manage a large volume of diverse tasks/projects. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, often with conflicting or moving deadlines.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern office management; knowledge of database systems and report generation; proficiency in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Access); knowledge of rules and policies regarding admission to law school as related to first-year, advanced standing, visiting status, and foreign applicants

  • Must be able to work independently while exercising good judgment and decision making.
