Introduction
Small class sizes, one-on-one interaction with faculty, and access to top national programs highlight an education where the focus of the institution is on you and your success. With an enrollment of approximately 650 law students from over 30 states and 15 countries, the College of Law offers students an exciting and rigorous academic journey that provides the knowledge, discipline, and analytical skills needed to succeed in the legal profession and related fields—preparing the next generation of leaders to meet the demands and maximize the opportunities of our complex global society.
Scholarship in action is the bold vision that propels Syracuse University—a vision for education that's not static or for its own sake, but breaks out of the traditional "ivory tower." It drives us to forge innovative and sustained partnerships across our local and global communities. And that makes SU a place where students become leaders, scholars become collaborators, and the community is continually energized by new ideas.
LLM Program for Foreign Students
This full-time program integrates foreign lawyers into Syracuse University's JD curriculum. It seeks to attract students from a variety of legal professions and nations and offers them the opportunity to study alongside our JD students by choosing from among over 100 regularly scheduled courses and seminars.
We seek students who are looking for the educational opportunity to gain the insight and training to become cross-border, global professionals, scholars, and leaders in their fields. This program is exclusively available to graduates in law from foreign academic institutions or those who are otherwise licensed to practice law in their home jurisdictions. We seek people from diverse legal backgrounds, including corporate, government, private practice, judicial, and academic.
In this one-year residential program, each student will take two basic foundational courses together, one to introduce the basics of the American legal system and a second in legal writing, with a third required research seminar of their choice. The remainder of the program allows students to tailor their own experience in the LLM to their particular professional needs by choosing from among the superb and diverse courses offered at the college.

A law school embedded in a dynamic university, situated in a picturesque setting, Syracuse University has always been a place of bold ideas. Like the region and city that are its home, it is a crucible of discovery, a place that attracts remarkably talented students and gives them the opportunity to test themselves. Syracuse is located in the center of New York State, approximately 250 miles northwest of New York City. Located at the top of the famed "SU Hill," the College of Law sits on the 200-acre main campus and commands a panoramic view of downtown Syracuse and the Onondaga Valley.
The College of Law Complex
Students find the law school complex conveniently self-contained. MacNaughton Hall and White Hall are joined by an open-air courtyard with breathtaking views of the Onondaga Valley and connected by enclosed hallways for passage during the colder months.
The Future of the College of Law—Dineen Hall
The 200,000-square-foot Dineen Hall, opening in fall 2014, will mark the beginning of Syracuse University's west campus expansion. The distinctive new five-story, state-of-the-art College of Law facility is designed to meet the personalized needs of law students, and create a community dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and advocacy.
Cosmopolitan Setting, Small-World Experience
