Introduction
The @WashULaw Master of Laws (LLM) program is a dynamic online LLM program offered by the Washington University School of Law, part of the elite Washington University in St. Louis. Taught by highly respected faculty, this program is designed to help the next generation of attorneys achieve their career goals and learn skills to succeed in the rapidly changing field of international business.
Delivered through state-of-the-art online technologies, @WashULaw courses effectively integrate live classroom sessions with streaming video and self-paced content. In live classroom sessions, Washington University law faculty and @WashULaw students "meet" at prearranged times for coursework discussions, study groups, and face-to-face office hour meetings. The self-paced content offers students high-quality, faculty-designed coursework, highly produced video content, and an interactive social technology platform that allows students to chat, study, and join communities with fellow classmates and professors 24 hours a day. During the summer, @WashULaw students will be offered an intensive US immersion program in St. Louis; Washington, DC; and other American cities to experience US law from inside US courtrooms and law firms.

Washington University School of Law recognizes many lawyers abroad require an advanced legal degree in order to accomplish their academic and professional goals. Washington University's LLM in US Law for Foreign Lawyers program has a student body drawn from diverse legal cultures who bring knowledge of their home business and legal environments into the classroom. The @WashULaw LLM program allows Washington University to reach many more highly qualified students who are unable to relocate to the United States or require more flexibility while honoring their current commitments in their respective countries of residence. It is an ideal environment for experienced attorneys and recent law graduates alike who desire to pursue advanced studies in US law or intend to sit for a US bar examination.

What technology is used in the @WashULaw LLM program?
Students enrolled in the @WashULaw LLM program use a cutting-edge Learning Management System called 2Law. The interactive social technology platform allows students to chat, study, and join communities with their classmates and professors 24/7. In addition to the 2Law platform, students will attend weekly live online class sessions that are delivered face-to-face by Washington University School of Law faculty.
How many classmates will I have in each of my courses?
There are a maximum of 15 students to each online course. This ensures that you, your professors, and classmates will have an opportunity to get to know each other, and that faculty will be readily accessible to answer your questions about class materials, current issues in the law, and even career options.
What is required of students in @WashULaw LLM program courses?
Each course is designed and delivered by a Washington University School of Law professor. Students should expect the following from each course:
- Curriculum that includes self-paced coursework and uses multimedia to prepare students for richer discussion and greater interaction during the scheduled weekly class sessions;
- Preparation outside of class, which includes teamwork and assignments incorporating readings, case studies, projects, and papers; and
- Weekly, live online sessions in small groups of up to 15 students led by faculty instructors; may include case discussions, role-play, breakout groups, and other discussions to drive learning.
Will my transcript indicate that I took an online program?
No. The @WashULaw LLM program requires the same admissions and graduation requirements as the on-campus program, so there is no difference between the academic degrees earned.
