Requesting a Nonpublished Test Center

If you are located over 100 miles (160 km) from an open, published center and you are not able to travel to a published/listed test center, you may request that LSAC establish a nonpublished test center.

NOTE: LSAC cannot establish a nonpublished center in China.

In some countries, not all locations may be acceptable for security purposes.

Because it takes additional administrative time to establish and open a center, you should submit a written request, including your fees, as early as possible before the receipt deadline for nonpublished test centers listed under the Test Dates and Deadlines area of our website. If you request accommodated testing at a nonpublished test center, all required documentation relating to your condition must be submitted in time to meet the appropriate nonpublished test center registration receipt deadline.

A nonpublished test center fee is required to establish a test location that is not listed online as open for the date you wish to take the test. A center that is listed as closed for a particular date may be opened if the required fee is paid and the center supervisor is able to accommodate the request.

NOTE: All credit card payments will be charged in US dollars. Checks or money orders must be payable to Law School Admission Council (LSAC) in US or Canadian dollars.

Be sure to:

  • Establish an LSAC account online, or telephone 215.968.1001. Include your account number on all communication with LSAC, including your request for a nonpublished test center.
  • Send a letter of request noting the names of large cities near your preferred test location. Include both the regular test center fee and the nonpublished test center fee. Both fees must be paid each time a center is requested. The additional nonpublished test center fee is not covered by a fee waiver.

LSAC recommends that you fax your request, including credit card number and expiration date, to 215.968.1277. If paying by check, you should send your request to:

    LSAC
    Test Administration
    ATTN: Nonpublished Test Center Request
    662 Penn Street
    Newtown PA 18940

Mailed requests must arrive at LSAC prior to the receipt deadline for the region where the requested test center is located.

Payment may be made by calling 215.968.1001; however, the request for a nonpublished test center must be in writing and sent to the above fax number or mailing address for receipt by the deadline date.
  • You may be asked to provide the name, street address, e-mail address, and telephone/fax numbers (including both country and city codes) of an educational institution, along with the name of a staff member who may be willing to supervise the test on the date for which you are registering. The person cannot be family, a friend, or your immediate supervisor. Selection of a test center supervisor will be at the sole discretion of LSAC.

LSAC will not attempt to establish a nonpublished test center unless the request and the appropriate fees have been received by the deadline date. In case LSAC cannot accommodate your request, please indicate in your letter which of the following alternatives you prefer: a refund of your test fee, the transfer of your registration at the same location to the next regularly scheduled test date, or placement in an alternative test center.

NOTE: Tests at nonpublished test centers outside of the 50 United States, Canada, and the Caribbean are nondisclosed.
