Krista Mattern is the principal measurement scientist for product development at LSAC, ensuring that new products and services are designed to support validity and efficacy claims as well as leading the development and execution of the research agenda in support of new products. Prior to joining LSAC in November 2021, she spent more than seven years at ACT in various leadership roles within the research department, namely leading validity and efficacy research for the entire product portfolio. Prior to ACT, she worked for more than seven years at the College Board as a research scientist. Mattern received her PhD in industrial and organizational psychology with a minor in quantitative psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Her work has been featured in more than 100 publications including journal articles, technical reports, and book chapters, and she has also served as the editor of two books. She has held various service roles within the industry, including 2019 program chair for the National Council on Measurement in Education, associate editor for Applied Measurement in Education, and reviewer for numerous educational measurement journals.
