During their three years of law school, many LGBT law students become involved in OUTLaw, Howard University School of Law’s student organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning law students, as well as their allies and friends. One of the largest, most respected, and most active organizations of its kind in the nation, OUTLaw serves as a social, support, and political group and actively combats homophobia, heterosexism, and any discrimination based upon sexual orientation or gender identity inside and outside of the Law School by

  • hosting social events
  • advocating for and on behalf of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning law students
  • providing resources regarding job opportunities in LGBT-friendly firms and organizations
  • providing resources for students to become involved with the local and national activist community
  • working on national agenda issues
  • cosponsoring panel discussions that focus on the academic and professional concerns of LGBT students
