To take the LSAT-Flex, you must present a physical, valid form of government-issued ID that sufficiently authenticates your identity to your remote proctor. The ID must be current (or have expired within 6 months of your test date) and must contain:
- A recent and recognizable photo of you
- Your first name
- Your last name
- Your date of birth
The first and last name listed on your ID must match the first and last name associated with your LSAC account.
This is important. If you do not present a valid, acceptable form of ID, you will not be permitted to take your exam.
Acceptable Forms of ID
Please note: Test takers must present either a passport or a government ID issued in North America.
Common forms of acceptable identification include (but are not limited to):
- Passport book
- Driver’s license
- North American state- or province-issued ID card
- U.S. Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
- Canadian Permanent Resident Card
- National ID card
- Consular ID card
- Certain Canadian health care benefit cards
- U.S. military ID card (Common Access Card, or CAC) — NOT an acceptable form of ID for LSAT Writing or the LSAT-Flex. (By law, U.S. military IDs cannot be photographed and thus cannot be used for these purposes.)
The following items are NOT acceptable for taking the LSAT-Flex: Social Security card, Social Insurance card, birth certificate, credit card (including those with photo), ID expired for more than 6 months prior to your test date, photocopied ID, employee ID (even for government employees), or student ID.

How can I make sure my ID is acceptable?
If you have questions about whether your ID is acceptable, contact LSAC by calling 215.968.1001 at least 14 days prior to your registered test date. Be prepared to submit a scanned copy of your ID for review.
I’m ineligible for a government-issued ID. What should I do?
Candidates testing in North America who are ineligible to obtain the required government-issued ID may request LSAC’s approval of alternate identification documents. To request an exception, you must contact LSAC prior to the registration deadline associated with your registered test date. Please contact LSAC by emailing LSACinfo@LSAC.org or by calling 215.968.1001 and choosing option 0 to speak to an LSAC candidate representative. Requests received after the registration deadline will not be accepted, and exceptions will not be made on the day of the test.
