LSAT Inbox – Assistive Technology
Welcome to the LSAT Inbox! This is a blog series that answers frequently asked questions about the LSAT®. We encourage you to check back often for answers to more questions you may have as you prepare for the test.
How do I request assistive technology?
Beginning with the August 2026 LSAT, all assistive technology requests must be submitted through the Request or Modify Accommodations section of JD Services. Any test taker who is seeking to use an assistive technology program for their LSAT multiple-choice sections or LSAT Argumentative Writing must submit their request for the accommodation by the accommodation request deadline set for the administration they wish to take.
Why do I need to request assistive technology as an accommodation now?
Assistive Technology is now considered a category one accommodation and must be requested with the required documentation. If approved, it will carry over to any future LSAT registrations, and you will not need to request it again.
I can’t see where to request assistive technology in JD Services. Is there a technical issue?
No, there is no technical issue occurring in your account. Starting with August 2026 administration, you will be required to request your assistive technology needs through the accommodation process, under section “L”.
What assistive technology programs are available at test centers?
The three assistive technology programs available for in-person testing are JAWS, Dragon, and ZoomText. All assistive technology requests must be submitted through the Request or Modify Accommodations section of JD Services.
I received assistive technology as an accommodation and no longer wish to have it. How do I remove it?
If you wish to opt out of an accommodation, including assistive technology, you may do so by going into JD Services and go to "Request or Modify Accommodations" from the drop-down menu under the LSAT tab on your account homepage. Click the link in the yellow banner to opt out of or decline your approved accommodations and check the boxes next to any accommodations you wish to opt out of. Be sure to sign the form and press submit to ensure we receive your request. The Accommodations department will process your request, and you will receive an updated approval letter.
I was approved for assistive technology for my LSAT. Am I required to use it?
You are not required to use your approved assistive technology accommodation. You may use it or choose not to the day of your test.
I missed the deadline to request assistive technology. Can you make an exception and add it?
We are unable to make any exceptions to the assistive technology request deadline. You can move your registration to a future LSAT to give you additional time to submit your request. Test date change fees may apply.
