The Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and the Charleston School of Law Office of Diversity Initiatives will host Minority Law Day on April 27, 2019 at the Charleston School of Law from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The event seeks to target racial and ethnic groups underrepresented in the legal profession by gauging high school students' interests in pursuing a career in law. Throughout our program, we aim to provide information regarding maintaining an above average GPA, studying for SAT and ACT, applying to college, and participating in extracurricular activities. Students will interact with current students of the law school and legal professionals to discuss legal issues relevant to their age group and how they can get involved in their community. The panelists from the legal profession will discuss the criminal justice system and how they got where they are today.  In addition, students will participate in the preparation and litigation of a mock trial guided by a law professor. The event is open to students at Charleston County Schools and other surrounding areas.
