USC Gould - Law Exploration & Academic Discovery (LEAD)

November 8, 2019, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
ET
University of Southern California Gould School of Law, Admissions Office
699 Exposition Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90089

The Law Exploration and Academic Discovery program, or "LEAD," is USC Gould's next step in early outreach programming. This program is developed for students from our local high schools who are first generation students, members of an under-represented minority, or consider themselves socio-economically disadvantaged. LEAD's guiding principle is that we lead by example—giving back and sharing knowledge. The program provides exploration of the legal profession and academic exposure through a mock class with a USC Gould professor or with student members of the Street Law team. The day's event will include a tour of the beautiful USC campus, lunch, undergraduate admissions information, and a "Toolbox for Success" panel compromised of members of the Black Law Student Association, the Latino Law Student Association, and the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association. Students will leave with a better understanding of what lawyers do, experience a case reading and discussion, and have information and tools for early college and law school preparation. After the event, participants will engage in a writing exercise as a follow-up to their visit.
