LSAT Inbox – August 7, 2025
Welcome to the LSAT Inbox! This is a blog series that answers frequently asked questions about the LSAT®. We encourage you to check back often for answers to more questions you may have as you prepare for the test.
How can I check if my device is compatible to take the LSAT?
Please test your equipment prior to your test via Prometric's site: System Readiness Check. You can complete this check at any time. Your system will be scanned for your operating system, screen resolution, microphone, camera, and upload/download speed. Do not forget to disable any VPNs, add an exception to firewalls, and add exclusions to anti-virus software as the system-readiness check does not check these items.
Can I take the test on a desktop computer? What about on a laptop?
If you're taking the LSAT remotely, you can test on a desktop computer or a laptop. If taking the LSAT on a desktop computer, please be aware that proctors do not allow you to lift the computer, so you must use an external webcam. If taking the LSAT on a laptop, please plug your device directly into a power source, unattached to a docking station. Please be aware that Bluetooth speakers are not permitted.
If you’re taking the LSAT at a Prometric test center, computers will be provided.
What do I need for a successful remote testing session?
You will need a compatible laptop or desktop computer, a webcam, a microphone, and a supported browser. You can take the LSAT at home or in another quiet, well-lit, private space that has a table or desk and access to a strong and stable internet connection. To verify your identity, you will need to present a physical, valid, government-issued ID.
Can you walk me through the start of my remote testing session?
- Before downloading the ProProctor software, please restart your computer and install any system updates.
- Make sure your volume and audio levels are set to about 80-85% range before opening the ProProctor application. You will be unable to do this after opening ProProctor.
- Open Prometric’s website
at least 30 minutes before your scheduled testing time.
- Enter your Prometric confirmation number and last name.
- Complete the enhanced system check.
- You will need a valid ID and your LawHub username/password. (These are the same credentials you used to register for the LSAT.) For more information about acceptable IDs, visit Identification Accepted for LSAT Admission.
- Click on Launch your Exam, which will redirect you to LawHub to start the test.
- Use your credentials to log into LawHub.
- Read and agree to the Certifying Statement.
- Click Begin, and the time will start.
How can I review some helpful troubleshooting steps for the remote testing session?
Please review our Remote LSAT Checklist for additional helpful technical and troubleshooting tips.
Can I use the bathroom during my test?
We encourage all test takers to use the restroom prior to beginning the test or during the intermission. However, candidates can utilize the restroom at other times if needed. Should you need to leave the camera view for an unauthorized break during a test section, please let your proctor know, and be advised that the test clock will continue to run. Please be prepared to show your valid photo ID and complete the room security scan again once you return, just as you did at the beginning of the test.
Candidates who may need to use the bathroom more frequently for medical reasons can request accommodations. Learn more about testing accommodations.
When will my August 2025 LSAT score be released?
August 2025 LSAT scores will be released on Wednesday, August 27. Please note that you must have an approved LSAT Argumentative Writing sample on file and no holds on your account in order for your score to be released. LSAT Argumentative Writing opened on July 29, 2025, for the August 2025 LSAT.
