Plus, Guided Journey — Support on Your Path to Law School

By Aminta Moses Sharps

Congratulations! You’ve decided to pursue law school. In an everchanging world, the decision to study law is one that should be celebrated. As you begin this challenging and exciting journey, LSAC has reimagined the ways we can support your success. With the goal of reducing barriers to legal education, our new Plus, Guided Journey program is designed to fit into your busy life as a prospective law student by providing structured resources and proactive, tailored support.

If you plan to apply to law school during the fall 2024 application cycle, then Plus, Guided Journey is for you. The program will use a cohort-based model designed to accompany and support you for an entire year as you explore the legal field, prepare for the LSAT, develop your application materials, learn about financial aid, build community, and make decisions about law school. If you are in the Washington, D.C., area, you will also have the opportunity to attend in-person gatherings where you can network with other scholars and regional law school professionals.

There are many benefits to participating in the Plus, Guided Journey program, including financial assistance (LSAT, LawHub Advantage, and much more), tailored LSAT prep, strength-based skills development towards law school success, synchronous and asynchronous workshops, discussions with law school professors, financial aid professionals, and admission staff — and much more! The program is designed to provide the support you need, when you need it. We aim to assist in identifying potential barriers along the law school application journey and creating effective strategies for success no matter what you encounter.

At the heart of Plus, Guided Journey is its commitment to proactive support and intentional community building. Selected participants will be involved with a community of scholars who share the same goal of attending law school. Through active participation, small group study sessions, and conversations, the Plus community supports and uplifts each other, encouraging a sense of belonging that can follow scholars all the way through law school. The program also places great importance on individual goals, and we are committed to supporting scholars in bringing their whole selves to the Plus program, to law school, and to the legal profession.

To be eligible for the Plus, Guided Journey program, you must intend to apply to a U.S.-based, ABA-accredited law school during the fall 2024 application cycle; however, you do not need to be currently enrolled in an academic institution to apply. We welcome program applicants at all stages of life and fully embrace the idea that there is not one singular path into the legal profession. The Plus, Guided Journey application is designed to provide a more complete picture of you as an individual and includes short writing prompts to help bring into focus aspects that may not be apparent on a résumé or transcript. There is no cost to apply or to participate in the program if selected.

Plus, Guided Journey is here to support you as you reach for your goals. Take the next step in your legal education journey and apply today. We are excited to welcome you!
