Admission Directory How-To Guide

What is the Online Admission Directory (OAD)?

A secure, searchable database of contact information for:

  • Key Law School Administrators and Faculty
  • Board and Committee Volunteers
  • Organizations Related to Legal Education
  • Prelaw Advisor National Council (PLANC) Members
  • LSAC Staff

In what ways can the OAD searches be used?

  • Find a person at a particular law school or organization, along with a photograph when provided, which helps place a face with a name.
  • Look up the contact at each law school responsible for specific functions or holding a specific position.
  • Compile a list of people performing various functions across law schools and/or organizations.

How is the OAD data updated?

  • Law School OAD Administrators: Requests to change OAD profiles can be made through the school-assigned Admission Directory Administrator — the person who is assigned the OAD contact category code (see below).
  • Contact your support team at LawSchoolEngagement@LSAC.org.

When making a request to add a new OAD contact through a law school OAD administrator or the LSAC administrator, you must include the person’s name, title, phone number, email, fax number (optional), and contact category code(s). At least one category code must be assigned to anyone entered in the online directory. Code definitions are noted by the codes in the code menu for the OAD, and in the front of the printed LSAC Admission Directory.

Example

Name: John Smith
Title: Director of Admissions
Phone: 215.968.1234
Email: jsmith@law.edu
Fax: 215.968.1234 (optional)
Code: ADM

What are Contact Category Codes?

Contact Category Codes are used to ensure that the appropriate individual(s) at each law school receives necessary and targeted communications — such as the opening of LSAC Law School Forum registration; event, meeting, and service notices; Official Guide call for copy; and much more. Contact Category Codes indicate an individual’s role, both at the law school and with LSAC.

Deleting Entries, Reassigning Codes, and Transfers

When requesting to remove someone from either the online or print directory, please consider their contact category codes. The deleted codes will need to be reassigned to someone else at the school. There is a question mark symbol next to the Contact Category search box that will list all the codes on one page

When a person transfers from one school to another school, they are essentially being deleted from the current school’s contact list and added to the new school’s list. It may be necessary to coordinate such transfers with another regional team member to ensure that the OAD reflects the correct information for both schools.

Board and Committee Member Codes cannot be deleted or reassigned to another person at a school without approval from LSAC’s Legal Affairs group.

Law School Forum contact (LSF) and LLM Law School Forum contact (LLF) cannot be deleted or reassigned to another person at a school without approval from LSAC’s Member Services group.

Note: Contact Category Codes also appear in the printed version of the Law School Admission Council Admission Directory.

Six codes are automatically included in the printed directory, and each school can only include a total of eight entries in the printed directory.

  1. DEN — Dean
  2. DN2 — Secondary Dean
  3. ADM— Primary Admission Office Contact
  4. DEIP — Primary DEI Contact
  5. CPC — Career Development Contact
  6. DLS — Financial Aid Contact

The following codes are mandatory for each law school:

  • DEN — Dean
  • CRP — Council Representative (usually assigned to the Dean)
  • ADM — Primary Admission Office Contact
  • DEIP — Primary DEI Contact
  • CRS — CRS Contact (always assigned with the ADM)
  • OAD — Online Admission Directory Administrator
  • OGE — Official Guide Contact
  • LSF — Law School Forum Contact
  • LRR — JD CAS Report Recipient

All of these codes must be assigned by the LSAC administrator:

  • Committee/Subcommittee/Work Group Members

  • Board Members
  • ACES2/Unite Technical Contact
  • Publications Recipient
