Summary of Position
The Assistant Director of Admissions and Recruitment is part of the Admissions team in the Law School. This role is a key individual contributor who recruits and counsels prospective and admitted law students, reviews and recommends action on law school applications, administers a national student recruiting program and on-campus programs for admitted applicants, and acts as advisor to student recruiters. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in higher ed, admissions or student services environment and a preferred master’s degree or JD.
Key Functions and Expected Performance:
Recruit J.D. students to the Law School
• Counsel prospective students in person, by phone/Zoom, and in writing, which requires familiarity with a broad range of related topics such as the law school admission process, financial aid, academic programs, legal education, the profession of law, law graduates’ employment outcomes, and other information helpful to prospective law students
• Represent the law school at recruiting events across the nation which require overnight weekday and weekend travel
• Provide tours and presentations to prospective students and others
• Counsel admitted applicants
Participate in the student selection process for entering first-year J.D. students and second-year J.D. transfers from other law schools
• Review applications, provide comments including Character & Fitness summaries, and recommend action on first-year J.D. and second-year J.D. transfer applications
• Play a lead role in transfer selection and on-boarding
Administer and lead J.D. recruiting programs
• Plan and implement annual off-campus recruiting campaign coordinating fall recruitment travel for admissions officers and student recruiters
• Plan and implement two on-campus Admitted Students Programs each spring semester
• Manage transportation arrangements and reimbursements for visiting admitted students
