LGBT Survey Results: University of the District of Columbia—David A. Clarke School of Law

Nondiscrimination Policy

In accordance with federal law and the Human Rights Act of 1977 (DC Law 2-38), the University of the District of Columbia—David A. Clarke School of Law does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, marital status, personal appearance, sexual orientation, family responsibility, matriculation, physical or mental disability, political affiliation, source of income, or place of residence in its programs, activities, and employment practices. In addition, the school complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1973. The School of Law’s coordinator for implementation of Title IX and section 504 is the Academic Dean.

Domestic-Partner or Same-Sex Marriage Benefits

Employees may elect coverage, or waive their right to health insurance coverage. You may cover yourself and your eligible dependents, which include

  • Legal spouse
  • Dependent children up to age 26
  • Domestic partner and dependent children of the domestic partner

Additional Information

UDC-DCSL welcomes all students to its diverse law school community. The School of Law is located in the nation’s capital, which is overall a liberal and LGBT-friendly city. Students, including LGBT students, feel comfortable expressing their views, opinions, and preferences in the classroom and through their chosen student organizations. The School of Law has enrolled transgender students. It does not currently have unisex facilities.
